Why it stuck
Correct. But audiences routinely attribute the Borg catchphrase to films that predate the Borg entirely (Dr. Who, 2001). First Borg appearance is 1989.
The earlier science-fiction use of the phrase was in Doctor Who (1965, "The Daleks"), but without the Borg's now-iconic intonation.
