Background
Prentice and three collaborators coined *locavore* for World Environment Day in San Francisco, 2005, and challenged residents to eat within a 100-mile radius. Oxford's 2007 Word of the Year.
Contemporary (2000–)
Faster coinage, faster canonisation. Brexit and podcast both reached the OED within a decade of first use — historically rapid. Social media has made visibility, not invention, the rate-limiting step.
