Background
Ansel trademarked both the pastry and the name at his SoHo bakery. The food generated two-hour queues in 2013, launched a wave of "hybrid pastries," and is still one of the most-cited pastry portmanteaus.
Contemporary (2000–)
Faster coinage, faster canonisation. Brexit and podcast both reached the OED within a decade of first use — historically rapid. Social media has made visibility, not invention, the rate-limiting step.
