MYTH = cosmic. LEGEND = rooted.
MYTH concerns gods, creation, cosmic meaning — the big questions. LEGEND is rooted in (or claims to be rooted in) actual people or events, often embellished — King Arthur, Robin Hood. Myths explain; legends remember.
